About Boring Office Tools

Boring Office Tools makes templates that should already exist.

This site is for small Canadian nonprofits and small organizations — the ones with a part-time administrator, a volunteer treasurer, or a board that meets in a library basement. Organizations that need a board minutes template, a grant tracker, or a donation log, and need them today — not after a three-month software evaluation.

The short version of what we believe:

• Most admin problems are small problems. A spreadsheet with the right columns beats a subscription you never open.
• No subscriptions, no software to learn, no 40-tab onboarding. You download a file, fill it in, and get on with your work.
• A $12 template that actually gets used beats a $1,200 platform that doesn't.

What we sell is simple: board meeting minutes packs, grant application trackers, donation trackers with CRA receipt checklists, and staff survey packs — or all four in one bundle. Each one has a free guide or tool on this site, so you can see the thinking before you pay anything.

What we don't do: consulting, legal advice, or software. The guides on this site are general information, not professional advice — check current CRA and provincial requirements when it matters.

Why the name? Because office tools should be boring. A good template is invisible: it sits there, does its job, and never asks for your attention. That is the whole design philosophy.
